Remember when...

19 January 2019

A computer was something on TV,
From a science fiction show.
A window was something you hated to clean,
And a ram grazed in a meadow.

Meg was the name of your girlfriend,
A gig was a show to excite.
But now they all mean different things,
And that really does mega byte!

An application was for employment,
And a program was a TV show.
A cursor used profanity,
And a keyboard was a piano.

Memory was something you lost with age,
A CD was a bank account.
And if you had a 3½” floppy, well,
You hoped that no one found out!

Compress you did to the garbage,
Not a thing you do to a file.
And if you unzipped something in public,
You’d end up in jail for awhile.

Log on added wood to the fire,
And a hard drive was a long trip by road.
A mouse pad was where a mouse lived,
And a backup happened in your commode.

Cut you did with a pocket knife,
Paste you did with glue.
A web was a where a spider lived,
And a virus was having the flu.

So I’ll stick to my pad and my paper,
And the memory I have in my head.
I hear nobody’s been killed in a computer crash,
But when it happens they’ll wish they were dead!
